This large, wide, very sharp and lustrous Azurite crystal is just short of two inches across. This tabular, robust style is uncommon, particularly in fine specimens of this size. It is rectangular in shape overall with thin, wedge-like terminations at each end. The features on this crystal are unique as it displays countless, parallel growth forms on the large front face that almost impart striations, and light shines out and scintillates from all of the intricate linear growth forms. In other words, it is super sparkly! In contrast, the back of the crystal is essentially smooth and only ever so slightly striated. There is a lustrous sidecar Azurite crystal on the front that that juts out almost perpendicular - that measures 2 cm long and nearly 1 cm in width. It is accompanied by two smaller, also lustrous Azurites that lie in the wedge between the large crystal and the sidecar. This significant crystal duo sits nicely on an elongate and appropriately sized piece of altered, gray limestone/dolomite matrix that hosts a smaller Azurites to a few millimeters. So you see color shape, and light all over. It is a sharp, small cabinet, matrix Azurite by any standard. Valued $2500-3500.
