Here we have a significant matrix example from the type locality for axinite, that ALSO happens to be a competitive quality specimen for aesthetics as well. A classic, gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, 3.6 cm, clove-brown axinite crystal aesthetically set on matrix and beautifully accompanied by a pristine, water-clear quartz crystal. The glassy, well-striated axinite crystal is as close to pristine as you can get with only infinitesimal wear of no note.
