Item Description

Striking clusters of lustrous, translucent, distinctive clove brown colored, slightly curved Axinite crystals makeup this noteworthy cabinet sized specimen from the diverse complex of mines at Dalnegorsk. The highlight is an exquisite 5.5 cm complete crystal that curves high above on the left side. Across on the right side is a 4 cm crystal that appears to have had its growth inhibited by a contact of possibly another crystal. A few of the smaller crystals are incomplete and some edge contact is noted for the specimen. Good quality overall for this hard to find material. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl Collection. This material came out in the 1990s, and really is quite rare in any size of this magnitude. While finer and gemmier axinite came from Puiva in the Urals, this is about as good as it gets for Dalnegorsk material.
