Item Description

Rare style Axinite on this very rare and very fine old-time small cabinet piece from this well-known extinct Japanese Cu-Zn-As-Sn skarn deposit. The numerous well-placed, sharp, lustrous, variable brown crystals, to 1.1 cm, have a distinctive pyramidal habit. Some prisms have areas of classic clove-brown translucence under bright light. Most axinites from worldwide localites, in general, and those from the Obira Mine have a bladed or flattened crystal habit. Comes with an older faded and water-stained label. The specimen is 2487 on the label. Rare, perhaps UNIQUE style, old axinite from the locale.
