Item Description
Axinite is a classified as a collector's stone, as there aren't many places in the world which produce gem quality material. Years ago, the only place you could find good gem quality Axinite was in the Baja of Mexico, but in recent years, a few other world localities have produced some attractive gems including this "Alpine-type" locality in the high mountains of Pakistan. This stone is a good quality example of Axinite (specifically Axinite-(Fe)) with a strong brownish-cognac hue, and only slight inclusions. The cut on the stone is an "Oval Brilliant" cut. It's nearly a full carat, which is significant for the material as it's hard to find Axinite gems over 1 carat in weight. A good quality stone for any fan of rarities or gems from Pakistan. You could pair this gem up with a specimen from Khaplu for a great "rough and cut" set.
