Item Description

A beautiful and eye-catching specimen of Axinite-(Mn) (not the more common Axinite-(Fe)) from Dal'negorsk. People are used to seeing fine specimens from Puiva, but Dal'negorsk did produce some really attractive crystals of a slightly more compressed / narrow habit. Most specimens were found during the mid to late 1990's and then stopped altogether. The crystals have a lovely "stacked" appearance, with glassy luster and and a beautiful brownish-purple / clove color. A bit of rough spots keepts it from being 100% perfect, but it's good overall for the material. The largest crystal measures 1.0 cm. The piece comes to us from the collection of Helen and Raul Madrid.
