Item Description
An impressive large 360-degree axinite and quartz specimen from Pakistan. Very glassy, highly lustrous, transparent to translucent, mauve-colored axinite blades are richly and dramatically set in the quartz crystal matrix on this sculptural upright specimen from the Alpine-type metamorphic deposits at Tormiq. The crest of this piece is solid axinite crystals. The compound blades reach up to about 8.0 cm with single blades to 6.7 cm. Hard to see, but some of the elongated quartz crystals on the sides have classic fadens or "strings" in their interiors. The noted periphery wear is certainly acceptable in the context of this showy large piece. These fine axinites are very similar to "Alpine type" Axinites from Russia, or true Alpine Axinites from Europe.
