Axinite-(Fe) w/ Epidote (Type Locality for both) Robertson Coll.

Item Description

This historic, classic locale is the Type Locality for both Axinite-(Fe) and Epidote. Combination specimens are VERY RARE. Two parallel-growth, terminated olive-green epidote crystals, to 2.5 cm, dramatically jut out from the side of classic clove-brown, highly lustrous, gemmy, stepped-growth axinite crystals. Drusy quartz on the back side is a nice accessory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Her label and number were lost during the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Rare, perhaps UNIQUE axinite and epidote from this famed locale. A must for the species and locality collector!
