Item Description

Probably mined in the 1990s and then coming to market in the 2000s, this sharp Axinite (probably Axinite-(Fe)) specimen features several clusters of glassy, transparent to translucent, dark olive-brown crystals. There are two, prominent, tightly fanned, and very elegant clusters of crystals that are actually extended parallel to their length creating interesting and aesthetic forms. The smaller crystals and clusters on the piece are similar in form. The crystals in the larger groups are 3.5 to 4 cm in length and those in the smaller, adjacent clusters are between 1 and 1.5 cm. Good Axinite specimens are rare for this locality, and this nice-sized small cabinet piece is a particularly attractive example. These are some of the best in the world when of quality but seldom seen in this condition. A true classic!
