Item Description
A beautiful miniature sized specimen featuring multiple, gemmy, very sharp, lustrous, "wedge"-shaped crystals of golden brown to lilac-clove colored Axinite-(Fe) in a beautiful "stepped" arrangement. The termination of each crystal almost resembles the mountains in which they were found. For the most part, the piece is in good condition, though there are a few minor nicks. The front bottom edge and the left side are incomplete, but appear to be partially recrystallized, so it's actually fairly complete all around. Excellent form, luster, color and gemminess. If you collect "Alpine-type" minerals, this is something that you rarely see on the market. These crystals compare quite favorably to the famous metamorphic Axinites that came out of Russia in the 1990s or true Alpine Axinites from France that were the standard for Axinite-(Fe) for a long time. It's not easy to find a multi-terminated group of Axinite like this from any locality, so don't miss out on this one as very few were found at Khapalu, and this is an older specimen going back to the mid 2000s.
