Item Description
A sharp, gemmy to translucent, clove purple colored Axinite-(Fe) crystal section from Mun. de Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. The piece is not complete all the way around, but it does have some well-crystallized faces. It's actually so thick, that it's difficult to see through, which is not common for Axinite crystals of any species. The piece comes from the collection of Dr. Frederick Pough, Ph.D. mineralogisit, curator of physical geology and mineralogy at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and an icon in the mineral world. I haven't seen many of these pieces on the market, and this is a little better than a reference specimen, but if you collect this kind of material, don't miss out.
