Item Description
A sharp, gemmy to translucent, clove purple colored Axinite-(Fe) crystal group from Mun. de Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. The piece is mostly complete, and in better shape than many others I have seen from the locality. The front crystal in contacted on the back of its termination. It's actually fairly thick, so it's a bit difficult to see through when backlit, which is not common for Axinite crystals of any species. I haven't seen many of these pieces on the market, and this is a worthwhile specimen, more than a represenation of material. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #4046), and also from the collection of noted mineral collector and author, John Sinkankas as his collection number (JS AX*8) can be seen next to Miguel's number. For more information on this important collection, use the link to this free online copy of our 2008 book on his collection: http://www.irocks.com/e-book-romero/
