Item Description

Axinite-(Fe) (formerly Ferroaxinite) is known from several localities in fine crystals, but pieces from the TYPE LOCALITY are not common on the market. Bourg d'Oisans is the type locality for a few other iconic Alpine species like Epidote and Anatase, but the good specimens of Axinite-(Fe) are true European classics. This piece features a few beautiful, sharp, lustrous, transcluent, clove colored, "wedge"-shaped crystals of Axinite-(Fe) measuring up to 1.7 cm on matrix. Good quality for this old time material from the French Alps.
