Item Description

This is a striking and rare large locality combination piece, for what it is, surely dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s, as it is from the Bement and Crunden Collections, and ex American Museum. The piece features gemmy, clove-brown colored axinite crystals to 6 mm on matrix covered with glassy, colorless to ivory orthoclase variety adularia crystals. The large adularia is 2.5 x 2.3 cm and is twinned. I really like the way the axinites are richly clustered atop the large adularia crystals. This specimen is a major locality piece, as such rich specimens are still only rarely found, to this day. A fine provenance.
