Item Description

This razor-sharp Axinite was likely mined during the famous finds of the 1980s-90s from the remote mining district at Puiva Mount in the Prepolar Urals. This single crystal is wonderfully sharp, gemmy, and lustrous with a captivating clove-brown color that has a faint violet tint. Select faces have subtle, stepped, growth features on the surface that add to the aesthetics of this already glassy crystal. Puiva Axinites from this extraordinary alpine-cleft deposit set the world-wide standard for the species by virtue of these very characteristics. They were gone from the market shortly after, and haven't come out since that time. This is a fine quality miniature from the find. The combination of color, luster and gemminess is rare. This is a superb miniature of high level, and today they can be found rarely for sale if ever - and generally at fairly high prices.
