Item Description

Austinite is a calcium zinc arsenate species, and is not terribly common in the mineral world, but in the gem world, it's exceptionally rare as a faceted stone. This is one of the VERY few faceted Austinites that I've ever had to offer. Often, the mineral doesn't form in large enough crystals for faceting, but the specimens from the world famous Ojuela Mine in Mexico are sometimes large enough to yield good sized stones. Now this material is NEVER completely transparent, it's always going to be translucent, but that's not what's important here. This stone is a good quality, large (for the material), well-cut, translucent, soft yellow color, "brilliant trillion" faceted gem. It would make a magnificent addition to any rare gem collection, and you would be hard pressed to find another like it anywhere on the market. Priced at $732.50 high retail.
