Item Description
Glassy, translucent, silky luster aggregates of pastel-green, orthorhombic austinite crystals are attractively festooned on the large, sculptural, sturdy, elongated, layered gossan matrix plate from famed Mina Ojuela. Austinite is an uncommon secondary hydroxyl Ca-Zn-Arsenate and is one of the many ore species from this noted locale. The green tint is from trace amounts of copper. Ex John Whatley Collection, a well-known Georgia collector (1939-2022) and acquired in 1989. Excellent, rich and showy large example of the species and well-known locale.
