Item Description

A fine specimen of aurichalcite from this mine more known for its smithsonite...but there is more! Botryoidal, lustrous, rich blue aurichalcite in sparkling microcrystals covers a thin layer of sky blue smithsonitewhich pokes out around the edges. It totally covers one side of this piece. It is the back side which is even more unusual and interesting in some ways: it is composed of radial and spherical masses which resemble onions, that I have never seen from here. It could be goethite or a layer of chalcopyrite. In any case, we have never seen this before! It is just very strange.... This would be vvalued highly anyways simply as an aurichalcite, though.
