Item Description

A classic old association specimen of the famous greenish-blue Aurichalcites with colorless / white Calcite. The label states that this piece is from the Santa Rosa Mine in Mapimi, but I can't find a listing for this locality, so we've decided to designate it to Ojuela. If anybody has information about the Santa Rosa Mine, please let us know. Velvety botryoids of beautiful rich greenish-blue Aurichalcite covering a layer of gossan matrix with tabular, sharp, gemmy Calcite crystals make this an attractive specimen of this well known material. This one is certainly an older specimen because of the early catalogue number in the collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#163). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
