Aurichalcite in Calcite

Item Description

At the center of this matrix specimen is a large, equant rhomb of glassy, translucent calcite, spectacularly included with fibrous aurichalcite, which imparts a vibrant teal blue color. Old material from circa 2008 or so. The top left termination of the calcite is gemmier, with less aurichalcite inclusion, allowing for greater transparency. Upon close examination, the fibrous aurichalcite crystals can be seen preserved inside the calcite, indicating that this is more of an intergrowth than simple inclusions. This specimen could also be trimmed into a superb thumbnail, offering versatility in display. Ex Jingnan (Tom) Zhang.
