Item Description

This is a lovely classic specimen from the famous 79 Mine featuring brilliant turquoise blue colored "needles" and "tuft"-like groups of Aurichalcite with minor silvery-white Hemimorphite on matrix. I love the intensity of the color in the Aurchalcite. A beautiful example of this well-known and now hard to find material from this fantastic locality that lasted from 1879 to 1992. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6616). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
