Item Description

For whatever reasons, mineral specimens from Turkey are rare on the collector market, and few are preserved during active mining projects. This attractive small cabinet aurichalcite has bright blue-green spheres that are up to 1 cm across scattered across a goethite matrix with coatings of tiny white aurichalcite sprays. Minor damage to some of the balls is present. This specimen is from the Uludağ Mine, Turkey - a new locality for the species! It is a very rare specimen, and would be a quality aurichalcite fomr anywhere. We obtained a small lot of these in the private collection of a Turkish mining engineer (who self-collected them during a career spanning several decades, and sent us many things we had never seen for sale before!).
