Item Description
With the dominant crystal being 1.7 cm, this is an exceptionally large and well-defined Fassaite (a variety of Augite) from the well-known Traversella Mine in Turin. The main crystal is deep green, and it is accompanied by several smaller Fasaite crystals in this cluster. There is a little bit of wear, but this was certainly mined in the 1800's, so that is understanble. Yet, it remains one of the finest Traversella Fassaites that I have seen. Formerly in the collection of Roberto Columbo of Rome. These pieces are part of a century-old Italian collection that was recently acquired.
