Item Description

Augite specimens from this lesser known iron deposit in Utah are certainly few and far between. I've personally only seen one other specimen of Augite from Twin Peak. This piece features several, sharp, prismatic, dark brownish-black colored crystals of Augite associated with a solitary octahedron of Magnetite in the center sitting on host rock matrix. The largest Augite measures 1.7 cm. The piece is not 100% perfect, but it does show good crystallization and form for this well known Pyroxene species. This piece comes to us from an old East Coast collection, and is accompanied by an old typed label stating it's from "Twin Peaks, Utah".
