Item Description
Large, sharp, augite crystals are very uncommon from the famous Franklin District. A 5.4 cm, lustrous, gray-black, complex prismatic crystal is jauntily set at the top of the mostly solid augite matrix with sections of other crystals. The matrix contains pastel-pink rhodonite and scattered calcite (orange fluorescence). Periphery wear is noted, but this remains an excellent, highly representative and rare example of the species with a well-placed large crystal. Undoubtably older material, but no proof. Valued by the former dealer at $695. Seldom on the market!
