Item Description

This mine is probably best known for its superb Bournonite specimens, but this new find has produced some attractive association specimens of Sphalerite with other minerals. The piece features dozens of very sharp, gemmy, lustrous, crystals of colorless Augelite associated with a few semi lustrous, relatively sharp, complex grey-black crystal groups of Sphalerite on matrix. Micro octahedral Pyrite and tiny Quartz crystals can be seen under the microscope as well. The initial discovery was the first time we had seen these species associated together from this mine. The quality of the Augelite crystals is good, and the wonderful contrast between them is really striking. The largest Sphalerite group measures 6 mm across, and the largest Augelite is 3 mm long. A nice miniature specimen from a one time at Machacamarca.
