Item Description
This is one of the best Augelite and Pyrite association specimens from Tasna that we've offered in the auctions. Augelite is an uncommon phosphate, that is only found from a few world localities in good quality specimens. Bolivia has several good Augelite localities, including the famous locality at Tasna. This piece features many sharp, lustrous, gemmy crystals of Augelite measuring up to 8 mm! associated with greenish-brown compressed rhombohedra of Siderite plus micro Quartz on matrix, but the most impressive aspect of the piece is the large (2.7 cm), sharp, lustrous predominant octahedral (with small pyritohedral modifications) Pyrite crystal on the top portion of the specimen. This specimen is from the find over 10 years ago (2002), when some of the most impressive Augelites came out of Tasna. This is definitely one of the best pieces of this material that I've seen from Tasna. Valued at $850.
