Item Description
Augelite is a relatively rare phosphate, and some of the most beautiful (and well known) crystals of the material are found in the Yukon Territory. This area is only accessible for a few months per year and is rather treacherous terrain for collecting specimens. This piece is filled with of very attractive, sharp, lustrous, gemmy green monoclinic crystals of Augelite on matrix. The largest Augelite measures 7 mm long. I have not seen many of these specimens on the market in the last few years, and the fact that these crystals are actually a beautiful green color makes them highly desirable, as most Augelite crystals are colorless. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8675) and University of Saskatchewan Colletion (#12117). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
