Item Description

Rapid Creek is a well-known phosphate locality way up the Yukon, and is only accessible for a few months in the summer for collecting (it's under snow and ice the rest of the year). The locality is honestly some of the most treacherous terrain in the world for collecting specimens with steep talus slopes and unstable ground. Some of the most well-known minerals from the area are the beautiful green Augelites. Here we have a lovely display piece featuring dozens of little, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, light green color crystals of Augelite associated with gemmy brown rhombic Siderite and prismatic Quartz crystals on matrix. No major damage I can see, and a nice example of this world-class material, especially when viewed under magnification.
From the collection of John Dagenais.
