Item Description

A classic and rich display specimen of Atacamite from the type locality for the species in Chile. This is an old specimen (approximately 50 years) and is loaded with dozens of sparkling, almost wet-looking, rich emerald-green, rather gemmy, bladed prismatic crystals of Atacamite on matrix. The Atacamite crystals are incredibly lustrous and are grouped in nearly two-dimensional sprays consisting of 1 cm crystals splayed out across the triangular-shaped piece of matrix. The whole thing shimmers and sparkles. The Atacamite overlays some minor Malachite as well. A beautiful piece of this now hard to come by style for the species. These brilliantly shiny crystals came from several large finds brought out in the 1980s and early 1990s, and not common to the market since.
