Astrophyllite with Albite

Item Description

A particularly fine cabinet specimen of Astrophyllite from this important locality on the Kola Peninsula of Russia. It features several large, starburst-like radiating sprays composed of almost metallic looking, thin, coppery bronze, crystals laying flat on matrix. The crystals vary from less than 1 up to 3 cm in length and the colorful, divergent sprays are splayed out on a matrix of white Albite for great contrast! Astrophyllite is a relatively uncommon potassium-sodium-iron-titanium silicate found in nepheline syenites and alkali granites and this is an extremely fine and rich example for the species and locality!
