Item Description

An unusual piece of Asphalt (more techincally it should be classified as Bitumen) in clay slate matrix from an unknown locality in the town of Holzmaden in Germany. Unusual material and certainly an odd rarity to add to a German mineral collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2219). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
