Item Description
Impressive, rich and sculptural large Artinite from this historic mining district, home of the famed Dallas Gem Mine (Benitoite). Artinite is an uncommon hydrated Mg-carbonate with a hydroxyl. It resembles some Zeolite Group specimens and has a most unusual habit for a carbonate. Radial puffballs of needles, to 2.3 cm, are artistically set on the dramatically sculptural 3-dimensional 360-degree sawed serpentine matrix plate. Ex Ken Roberts Collection and self-collected by him. This is a California classic and a really fine example.
