Arthurite (rare)

Item Description

Here we have a hard to find specimen of Arthurite, a very rare hydrated copper iron arsenate first discovered at Hingston Down Consols in Cornwall, England. It was named in 1964 after Sir Arthur Edward Ian Montagu Russell and Arthur William Gerald Kingsbury, both of whom where mineralogists and collectors in England. This piece is from the famed Majuba Hill Mine in Nevada, where some of the most well-known examples of the species have been found. This piece features attractive green colored micro "sprays" of Arthurite on Quartz matrix. The crystals are best seen under magnification, and we've photographed them with a macro lens to better illustrate their quality. If you're a fan of rarities or specifically minerals from the Majuba Hill Mine, don't miss out on this one, as they are not nearly as common on the market as they were years ago.
