Item Description

Arthurite is a rare hydrated Copper-Iron-arsenate, named in 1964 (MINDAT). Radial aggregates of tiny, lustrous, acicular apple-green crystals are richly festooned on the front of the sculptural, large, blocky rhyolite matrix. This rich and excellent specimen is from the noted Copper Stope of the extinct Cu-As-Au-Pb-Mo-Ag-Sn-U Majuba Hill Mine of Nevada. The mine is well-known for producing fine highly colored specimens of rare arsenate species in microcrystals, such as Arthurite, Olivenite, Clinoclase and Chalcophyllite. See the 1985 Mineralogical Recored article in Vol. 16, No. 1. A rich and fine large example of the rare species from the noted locale.
