Item Description

A classic combination specimen from the famed Stari Trg Mine at Trepča in the former Yugoslavia. This mining complex is the largest lead-zinc producing locality in all of Europe. While the ore is plentiful at Trepča, the Stari Trg Mine has produced many excellent crystallized mineral specimens, largely consisting of sulfides with associated carbonates and Quartz. This piece features multiple species, starting with excellent, gun-metal silvery-grey colored blocky crystals of Arsenopyrite measuring up to 8 mm, which are associated with stark white prismatic crystals of Quartz, along with translucent, silvery/smoky colored rhombs of Calcite, plus black Sphalerite, bronze colored platy crystals of Pyrrhotite and a minor amount of acicular matte grey Jamesonite. Very little damage, and quite showy. I love these multi-species association specimens, especially when all the minerals are well-defined and easy to see.
