Item Description

A notable and rich plate of sharp, intergrown, metallic, steel-gray Arsenopyrite crystals from the old Noche Buena Mine, Zacatecas, Mexico. We believe this is an old piece that has a graceful patina resulting in some of the crystals having a more golden brassy metallic luster with some iridescence to them. The Arsenopyrite crystals, up to 1.4 cm in size, are further enhanced by preferential stepped growth or striations on one face. The display is accented by a few secondary clear Quartz needles and a late growth of contrasting white translucent scalenohedron Calcites with crystals up to 1.6 cm and good pale orange fluorescence. The piece is in great condition. There are a few nicks and some acceptable periphery edge wear. Good display quality specimens of Arsenopyrite from this mine are extremely hard to find on the market. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
