Item Description
Lustrous, bronzy, well-teminated arsenopyrite prisms, to 1.3, richly and attractively cover the mounded matrix like porcupine quills on this showy and excellent miniature. A 1.0 cm quartz needle is a fine accessory. Remarkably, very few crystals have broken tips. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7010 and acquired from the Lidstrom's at the San Francisco Show in August, 1973. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Classic, seldom seen, probably older material from these historic polymetallic sulfide mines, that date back to the time of Alexander the Great!
