Item Description

Splendent, sharp, stepped-growth, metallic-gray, arsenopyrite crystals, to 1.4 cm, are aesthetically festooned and are nicely accented with fields of glassy, colorless, nailhead calcite disks on this very showy and rich combination from the famous Stari Trg Mine at Trepca. A crust of pastel-pink rhodochrosite underlies the arsenopyrite and calcite and overlies the granular brassy pyrite matrix. A classic combination. Faint pink calcite fluorescence. Ex Howard Belsky Collection and comes with a display collection label. The J.C. Filer & Son label dates to 1937-49. Undoubtedly the piece dates to prior to World War II.
