Item Description

Danaite is the rare Co-bearing variety of arsenopyrite and is named for James Freeman Dana, famous mineralogist. It is RARE from this well-known locality, famous for sharp cobaltite and glaucodot crystals. These very sharp floater crystals have bright silver-metallic luster, well-striated faces and DISTINCTIVELY different form! The large crystal is a striking, complex pseudo-octahedron and the other is a pseudo-pyritohedron. The modest bit of edge wear has no impact on the quality of these fine rarities. These are old and rare pieces from the extensive collection of geologist Jean Behier, the "founding father" of modern Madagascar's georesources policies and a well known French collector. Valued at $1500.
