Item Description

Several tightly grouped clusters of Arsenopyrite are in a linear arrangement in this dramatic piece from the Huanggang mines complex, the now-famous iron-tin deposit in China. The intergrown Arsenopyrite groups are composed of numerous, tin-white, metallic slightly fanned, subparallel arrangements of crystals in complex geometric growth. The growth features of the Arsenopyrite in this miniature are fascinating. The Arsenopyrite is growing on a green felted mass of Chamosite, a Chlorite Group mineral, as matrix. These will be a modern classic down the road, and this is an excellent piece in the size range.
