Item Description
A wonderful good sized group of Arsenopyrite from the Yaogangxian Mine. The piece is easily over 20 years old, as Kay's label only states that it's from China, so it predates the widespread knowledge of the Yaogangxian Mine in western market. This small cabinet sized specimen comprises a layered group of sharp, lustrous, silvery, metallic Arsenopyrite crystals free of matrix. The terminations on the piece show dozens of fine quality "stepped" or "chisel"-shaped points creating a gorgeous effect. No major damage on the display side, but the piece is contacted on the back. Valued at $950. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11472). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
