Item Description

About 30 years ago, there were a handful of very good quality Arsenopyrite specimens on the market from the San Jose mine, but they all seemed to have dried up. This is one of the more attractive specimens of this material that I have offered for sale because not only is it filled with sharp, bright, highly lustrous, prismatic Arsenopyrite crystals, but it actually has some great aesthetic appeal. Flaring out of the top corner of the specimen is a beautiful "V"-shaped or "elbow"-shaped group of intergrown crystals which give the piece a lot of character and appeal. Most of the Arsenopyrites from this mine are typically "flat" and boring, and this is a VERY hard to find display specimen of this well known material. This piece was mined in 1980 and is a great example of this old material from one of the most famous mines in the Bolivian tin belt.
