Item Description

A classic specimen from this ancient copper mining district, where mining evidence goes back about 4000 years (beyond the the Bronze Age)! Sharp, lustrous, metallic-gray, arsenopyrite prisms to 1.3 cm are aesthetically clustered on the hefty matrix plate, that has a solid vein of quartz with chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite running through it. Excellent large and rich material from this historic locale, with intermittent mining until 1977. From a musuem collection and was on display there.
