Item Description

From the largest manganese deposit in France and the type locality for the species, here we have a lovely old-time classic specimen of the famous and hard to find Arseniosiderites. These specimens haven't come out in the late 1950s, so they're easily 60+ years old. This is very rich specimen with shiny tigers-eye-like veins of golden Arseniosiderite associated with massive Romancheite (for which this is also the type locality). The Arseniosiderite is technically crystallized, forming lamellar crystals completely filling the veins in which they grew. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4403). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
