Item Description

Arseniosiderite is an uncommon hydrated arsenate and this fine and showy old-timer is from the Type Locality in France. Sharp, lustrous, translucent, burnt-orange rhombs, to 2 mm, are dramatically and aesthetically clustered in a vug lined with rare starkly contrasting lustrous hematite or goethite botryoids. Discovered in 1750, modern mining started in 1920 and the mine closed in 1957 (MINDAT). Old-time material with the label dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
