Item Description
A truly fun and accessible family outing package, donated by James Zigras, owner of a number of the most famous mines in Arkansas. There is nothing like pulling a quartz crystal out from under a mountain, to make it hit home that you are collecting things that formed before dinosaurs walked the land above. Also, they are pretty and you are GUARANTEED to find amazing quartz points and clusters, with friends and family to watch. Located about 30 minutes by car from Hot Springs, Arkansas this famous mine was opened in the 1800s. James Zigras' company, Avant Mining, has recently rehabilitated the old mine and restarted commercial collecting here. James is a gracious host and has fun showing the hard work behind the mining here! He will make sure to open a pocket of crystals in the main vein for the winning bidder to see and dig from! This auction includes a day of fun digging (4 hours), guaranteed discovery, and a lot of excitement (maximum of 4 people, please note). It is even suitable for children (older than 10, please) with a little care. You can keep up to $1000 retail value of what you find, and purchase other items found if you desire, for mutually agreed prices of half their retail value. Trips like this have been valued in our past charity event auctions at $4000-5000 in our previous Live Auction Events (here and at the Dallas Museum of Art, where a similar package sold for $6000), and I can say that the families or groups of friends who went were beyond happy!
