Item Description
Arfvedsonite is an uncommon amphibole group species. Good US specimens are not that common on the market and this is a fine example from a classic New Hampshire locale. A sharp and sharply terminated, lustrous, jet-black, 5.7 cm is jauntily set in glassy, massive smoky quartz matrix. A termination edge is gently contacted, but has no damage, per se. The lower end is contacted, but has only trivial edge wear The base has been sawed enhance the display quality. A very fine combination specimen from the Schlichter Collection.
