Item Description
Strikingly sculptural, flattened, arborescent, two-sided crystallized copper from the famous Cole Shaft at Bisbee. This excellent piece is composed entirely of very sharp tetrahexahedral and spinel-twinned crystals. Malachite coatings on both sides and a partial oxide coating on the back side add character to this exceptionally well-crystallized old-timer. Ex Kay Robertson Collection 261 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). The Cole Shaft is noted for fine arborescent coppers and this is a very fine example.
