Item Description
A very aesthetic plate of sharp tarnowitzite crystals from Tsumeb. Tarnowitzite is the rare Pb-rich variety of aragonite, with the finest examples coming from famed Tsumeb. Sharply terminated, two-toned pseudo-hexagonal crystals nicely accented with two different green copper oxides form an excellent combination piece. The lustrous, translucent crystals reach 2.6 cm. The striking spray of large crystals on the upper left is noteworthy. In great shape overall. The bit of noted periphery wear along the top and bottom is certainly only a modest detraction to this sculptural and rich specimen. Pretty pastel-yellow fluorescence. Valued at $750 by the former dealer. A classic Tsumeb example.
